GAC's technology portfolio includes dedicated EV architecture, battery protection, electric and range-extended powertrains, and intelligent vehicle systems. Independent safety evidence is model-specific: the AION V received five-star 2025 Euro NCAP and ANCAP ratings, with different category scores and defined regional applicability. There is no single NCAP rating for the whole GAC brand.
What are GAC's main technology areas?
GAC uses several names for different layers of vehicle engineering. They should not be treated as interchangeable, and a technology described in a group announcement is not automatically fitted to every export model.
| Technology | What it describes | What to check on a vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| AEP 3.0 | A dedicated electric-vehicle architecture | Platform and exact model generation |
| Magazine Battery | GAC's battery-protection technology family | Battery version, capacity and local warranty |
| ADiMOTION | Range-extending powertrain technology | Whether the selected powertrain uses it |
| ADiGO | Intelligent vehicle and driving-assistance systems | Functions actually enabled in the local trim |
GAC Philippines' AION V technical announcement identifies AEP 3.0 as a purpose-built EV platform and describes Magazine Battery 2.0. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent comparative proof that the vehicle outperforms every rival.
What does ADiMOTION add?
GAC's 6 September 2025 ADiMOTION announcement presents a range-extending system and illustrates it with the HYPTEC HL. It describes energy-management strategies covering charging, energy recovery and power allocation, alongside measures aimed at generator performance and cabin noise.
A range-extending system uses an engine-generator to supply electrical energy. That does not turn its petrol-assisted total range into battery-only range. When comparing it with a pure EV or another plug-in vehicle, separate electric range, fuel consumption after battery depletion and the test cycle. This article does not independently verify the manufacturer's superiority claims or establish that ADiMOTION is present in every GAC plug-in model.
Intelligent functions still need a model-specific check
GAC Europe's explanation of its intelligent driving systems discusses functions such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance, and identifies its Level 2 systems as driver assistance. A feature name is not evidence that a car can drive without supervision.
For an export vehicle, use the local specification and owner's manual to establish the fitted sensors, supported functions and operating limits. Software branding, an app demonstration and a future development announcement answer different questions from the equipment list of a car available today.
AION V: the 2025 independent safety results
The Euro NCAP 2025 datasheet records five stars for the AION V, tested as a Premium left-hand-drive model. ANCAP's 2025 assessment covers all AION V variants in its Australian and New Zealand scope, with build dates from July 2025 and sales from November 2025.
| 2025 assessment | Adult occupant | Child occupant | Vulnerable road users | Safety assist |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Euro NCAP — AION V | 88% | 85% | 79% | 78% |
| ANCAP — GAC AION V | 88% | 87% | 79% | 79% |
The results are separate assessments: do not interchange their percentages. A five-star result is useful independent evidence for the rated vehicle and equipment. It should not be transferred to an AION Y, GS7, older AION V or an unverified market specification.
What a five-star result does and does not establish
Euro NCAP's detailed verdict reports a stable passenger compartment in the frontal offset test and maximum points in the side-barrier test. It also records marginal driver-chest protection in the side-pole test. Including both findings is more informative than repeating only the star count.
The rating is not a guarantee against injury and does not measure long-term mechanical reliability. Battery demonstration tests, collision assessments and real-world ownership records are different evidence categories. For a shortlisted car, match the rating's model, year, applicable variants and equipment to the actual vehicle, then read the category-level findings alongside the overall result.
